Current Behavior

This is a sister bug to the one I opened in ash the other day ash-project/ash#2195

I updated after the latest ash release but this is still a problem in ash_postgres as you anticipated.

I've made a commit to ash_sql that will raise an informative error explaining that the SQL data layers do not currently support this. PRs welcome to support it in the future. That work would go in ash_sql and would likely be of medium complexity.
