It was a great experience to work on Qatar's first Cable stayed Bridge.

🌟 In the heart of Jeddah, the new Four Seasons Mixed-Use Hotel is taking shape, and VSL was brought in to lift two massive multi-storey bridges into place at the top of the towers. These high-profile operations connected the building’s four towers, requiring bespoke heavy lifting solutions designed and executed by VSL, in close collaboration with Midad Real Estate and consultant Egis. 🛠️ What made this operation unique? • Two bridge units (weighing 1,300 and 2,500 tons) lifted up to 65 meters • Both structures were assembled at podium level, then raised using synchronized strand jacks and VSL's BRAVO control system • A temporary guiding and support system was designed to ensure safety and precision • The operation was carried out just meters from the towers’ façades, with millimetric accuracy 🌊 Coastal winds, salt exposure, tight spaces - this was no ordinary lift. Successfully lifting the steel structure system of the central roof of Long Thanh airport terminal - 5,300 tons to a height of 30m above the ground. VSL has coordinated with the steel structure contractor ATAD, VIETUR Joint Venture - to successfully lift the steel structure system of the central roof of the terminal using a hydraulic jack system. The steel roof has a curved arch structure with an area of nearly 20,000 m2, which is the largest module in the history of a passenger terminal in the world. This entire giant structure system is lifted by 56 specialized hydraulic jacks, each of which can withstand a load of 40 to 330 tons, helping to ensure a safe and accurate installation process. The successful application of a modern hydraulic jack lifting system has helped the work to be completed safely, shortening the construction progress before the storm season. Responsibilities: - Prepare detailed shop and construction drawings for Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls in accordance with project specifications and standards in the Middle East. - Develop and revise plan, elevation, and section views of MSE walls including reinforcement layout, panel arrangements, and connection details. - Interpret geotechnical reports, survey data, and structural calculations to ensure accurate and constructible drawings. - Coordinate with civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and site teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility of design. - Create quantity take-offs and material schedules for panels, reinforcement (straps, grids), and associated wall components. - Ensure compliance with AASHTO, FHWA, and local civil engineering standards related to MSE wall design and construction. - Maintain drawing records and assist in as-built documentation and drawing revisions throughout project lifecycle. - Support pre-construction and post-construction documentation with technical visuals as needed. Requirements: - Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field. - 2–5 years of experience specifically in drafting for MSE wall or retaining wall systems. - Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Revit is a plus. - Strong understanding of retaining wall design concepts, including geogrid/reinforcement systems and modular block layouts. - Familiarity with project specifications, construction documents, and geotechnical plans. - Ability to read and interpret structural and civil plans, topographic maps, and survey data. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of construction practices for MSE walls (e.g., reinforced soil techniques, precast panels, segmental retaining walls). - Experience working with DOT or infrastructure projects. Basic knowledge of geotechnical software or wall design software is a plus.
