About us
We’re a non-profit community services organisation and a church that work as one to #DoMoreGood. Our story of faith, hope and commitment began more than 200 years ago, when a pioneering church stepped out to make a difference for people who were being forgotten and marginalised. From those small beginnings grew a bold and lasting mission. Today we’re still relentless in supporting all people, across all stages of life. Our vital community services support children and families, older Australians, people living with disability and people who need pathways out of homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, financial hardship, and tough domestic situations. We invest in communities with safety nets like Lifeline and advocate against systemic injustices like housing inequity and gambling harm. Our churches are places of spiritual growth, connection and hope. In this world of extraordinary shifts, one thing does not change: we remain driven to do more good.

🤗 Integrated mental health support: Meeting families where they are. 💙 Our partnership with Heal2Soul has delivered 134 therapy sessions and 111 mental health consultations, supporting 24 new families in their healing journey this year. Mental health challenges don't follow business hours or convenient schedules. Whether it's a teenager facing crisis at 2am, a parent experiencing anxiety during school pickup, or trauma resurfacing unexpectedly, timely, accessible support is crucial. This partnership ensures families receive professional mental health services as part of their broader support network, rather than being referred elsewhere. It's integrated care that recognises the interconnected nature of family wellbeing. By combining Wesley Family Preservation's expertise with Heal2Soul's specialised mental health services, we're creating a comprehensive support model that addresses both immediate needs and long-term family stability.

🌐 Breaking down language barriers to build stronger communities. 🤝 This year, our partnership with Community Migrant Resource Centre delivered critical language and cultural support to 42 families and 120 children across 100 referrals. The impact goes beyond translation services. When an Afghan mother finally feels heard at her child's school meeting, or an Iranian family navigates complex systems with confidence, we're witnessing community integration at its most meaningful. Our collaboration spans five key languages – Dari, Arabic, Mandarin, Nepali, and Farsi – ensuring culturally responsive support that meets families where they are. This partnership shows how strategic collaboration can create lasting change. By combining Wesley Mission's 200+ years of community service with CMRC's expertise, we're building pathways to connection and understanding.

NAIDOC Week reminded us what happens when we show up as a community. At Whalan Reserve, kids were busy making bead bracelets while others took part in traditional dance. Our Targeted Early Intervention team was there too, along with Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation and The Holy Family Parish Services. At Nepean River in Penrith, we laced up our boots for something special. This was our fifth annual NAIDOC River Walk. Staff from across Wesley Mission – Family Preservation, out-of-home care and Targeted Early Intervention – walked the 6.5km bridge-to-bridge track together. Some pushed further, clocking up marathon distances. We walked as one team, raising funds for the Indigenous Marathon Foundation. At Quakers Hill High School, we sat in a Yarning Circle. There was truth telling. Story sharing. Aunties from Baabayn, students, teachers, and our team creating space for voices that need to be heard. Three events. One message: When we walk together, we walk further. The strongest communities are built when we listen, learn and stand alongside each other.

For our Family Preservation Caseworker Allie, NAIDOC Week is all about community and advocacy work which helps bridge gaps. “Every day we are advocating,” she says. “We are trying our best to bridge gaps and get people to understand there's a lot still to go, but I think NAIDOC Week is that national platform where we can actually voice it and be heard on a further broader lens.”

Safe, secure, affordable homes for people who need them most – It’s a privilege to join with government and community to deliver almost 100 affordable rental units and supported housing units in Curtin, a suburb of Canberra. We’re grateful for the partners; ACT Government, Federal Government, Woden Valley Uniting Church, Uniting Church in Australia - Synod of NSW and ACT and MyHome in Canberra who are bringing this vision to life, and excited to be part of a collaborative effort to give what everyone needs: a real home. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gQBXU9Z6
Canberra’s latest affordable housing development is progressing in Curtin, comprising 83 affordable rental units and 15 supported housing apartments. The ACT Government is supporting this project through its Affordable Housing Project Fund and a construction grant. It is also being supported by the Federal Government and recently reached contract close for funding as part of the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility (HAFFF). The project will be delivered by community housing provider, Wesley Mission, and include modern homes close to employment, education and public transport. The affordable housing component includes 83 rental units with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. These units will be leased to tenants at less than 75 per cent of market rate. The 15 supported housing units will be managed by MyHome in Canberra, a not-for-profit association which aims to provide people who have enduring mental illnesses with affordable homes that are safe and supportive. It will include 24/7 support from staff. This Curtin development is one of seven Canberra projects to receive HAFFF Round 1 funding. A second round of HAFFF funding for an additional 85 social homes was announced last week. 📖 Read more: https://bit.ly/44QfG0q
