One thing I've found helpful is to conduct drills on highly likely scenerios that will occur which will result in high consequence. Doing the drills regularly (monthly) will definitely help. These drills should involve the launching of life capsules and other rescue ops if required which intend tests out the safety systems. The VHF radio and satellite phones are the best communication method during an emergency so make sure these are tested frequently. Also ensure the incident commander must be identified from current existing role but most preferrably the most senior role on the off shore platform.

La idea principal en una emergencia es mantener la calma, aplicar tal cual los protocolos de seguridad y las habilidades obtenidas en los curso OMI y sobretodo obedecer las directrices de la línea supervisora!! Una vez emitida una directriz seguir la cadena de mando hasta comunicar a todos los equipos de la plataforma los pasos a seguir!!!!

Remaining calm has an area of effect around you and despite being mostly a character trait it also comes through knowledge of the procedures and processes. - Think ahead. How a specific instruction you give can affect the situation and if it will make things worse or better during the emergency. - Be as prepared as you can both mentally and physically by organizing and participating in emergency drills. Even tabletop simulations can help.
