This morning, VIA Rail was honoured to host a special event in Jasper, Alberta, commemorating the unveiling of a new Park car plaque in tribute to Jasper National Park, a symbol of our shared commitment to preserving Canada’s natural beauty. This special moment also marked the 100th anniversary of the Jasper Train Station, a cornerstone of Canadian rail history and a gateway to the Rockies for travelers from around the world. The event was graciously emceed by Michael Acosta, VIA Rail’s Chief Commercial Officer, and featured remarks from Ron Hallman, President & CEO of Parks Canada, Miranda Keating Erickson, VIA Rail Board Member, and Mayor Richard Ireland of Jasper. Their presence underscored the deep collaboration between our institutions and local communities in celebrating our collective history. This celebration also coincides with the launch of the Canada Strong Pass, an initiative designed to make rail travel more accessible and to encourage Canadians to explore the national parks and cultural richness of the country. Ce moment spécial a également marqué le 100e anniversaire de la gare de Jasper, pierre angulaire de l'histoire ferroviaire canadienne et porte d'entrée des Rocheuses pour les voyageurs du monde entier. L'événement a été gracieusement animé par Michael Acosta, Chef de la direction, affaires commerciales de VIA Rail. Ron Hallman, président et directeur général de Parcs Canada, Miranda Keating Erickson, administratrice de VIA Rail, et le maire de Jasper, Richard Ireland, ont également prononcé des allocutions.
