Microsoft chose today to force me to "reenter my credentials" so I can access my work on OneDrive from my computer. Microsoft promises to send a verification code to my email address to allow me to log in, but it never sends the code. There is no button to "resend code" - it just never sends it, so I have to keep closing the login window and trying to log in again, and requesting that code again. I think I've done that eight times. I have already spent 30 minutes searching the Internet for workarounds. No verification code ever arrives. Here is the code Microsoft allowed me to copy from the login screen, without telling me where or who to send it to. I am posting it here. Correlation Id: 17347ffa414e4f5cb33dae3b05f06be3 Timestamp: 2025-06-13T11:32:56.463Z Someone please help me access my work from my computer. Someone also please tell Microsoft to address this. Thank you.101Views1like3CommentsReinstalling Onedrive after crashed HDD?
I had my Onedrive installed on an external HDD but the HDD crashed so I bought a new SSD hard drive to replace the old one. My Onedrive folder was E:\onedrive\onedrive so when I signed in to my one onedrive he prompted for the location of Onedrive. I entered the path and then I got a message saying 'the Onedrive app could not by synchronised. For the moment the Onedrive map could not be added.' My only option is the 'OK' button and then I have a screen that keeps stating 'starting...'. If I look at the bottom right to the onedrive icon I can see that I'm logged in with my account but he doesn't synchronises. I have about 300GB of pictures on the Onedrive so I'm a bit scared to do something wrong what would overwrite or erase the existing files on the cloud. What can I do to solve this problem? Should I chooses a new path for the Onedrive? And if so, how do I reconnect all the files that are on the cloud to the new path? Thanks!35Views0likes2CommentsAttaching One Drive files to Outlook email via Iphone
I've been attaching One Drive files to emails for years with no issues. All of a sudden, I consistently get the message "Something went Wrong" What is going wrong? BTW, I CAN still perform this function from my laptop, so it's an Iphone issue only. Appreciate any help!!1.4KViews0likes7CommentsOneDrive for MacOS is Unsuitable for Professional Work
I work for a large wholesaler with 300+ employees. Our two marketing departments of around 35 people are on MacOS while the rest of the business is on Windows 10. We've been assessing different tools to migrate off our physical shared drive to get the entire business working on the cloud. We currently have a SharePoint installation and the teams will be trained to use the OneDrive sync client. However, multiple deficiencies in the MacOS version of the OneDrive sync client are causing us to reconsider our SharePoint/Microsoft implementation. I don't have to share these, but I think it's in Microsoft's best interest to take note of these deficiencies: Downloads started by clicking the cloud icon in Finder cannot be cancelled. We've had multiple instances of users accidentally clicking this icon when selecting the folder and then starting a download for an entire Lifestyle image folder containing hundreds of GB of TIFFs. The only way to rectify this as far as we can tell is to uninstall OneDrive and reinstall it. Not ideal, especially when downloads should be able to be cancelled. In our opinion, a basic necessity for a cloud sync app. There’s no way to prioritise uploads and downloads, meaning if you have lots to upload, you have difficulty downloading working files for other projects. It also means you can't prioritise the upload of critical elements that need to be shared on deadlines etc. It takes up to 10 minutes just to start uploading even just a 1MB file. OneDrive sync client will be stuck on ‘Processing Changes’ or ‘Preparing to Upload’. Not sure if this is a glitch/bug? Seems consistent across all devices. The OneDrive folder cannot be moved, meaning it’s stuck in the ‘Users’ folder in MacOS. This means that any linked files in our design teams working files (InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects etc) will be broken. Microsoft have stated that this is an OS restriction (might be the case?), however I know that other cloud sync services such as Dropbox/Google Drive can be moved without issue. Furthermore, when setting a unique folder in the OneDrive sync app, there's no error or notice that it doesn't work. When you select a unique folder for OneDrive, it seemingly works without issue, but it's not until later if you go searching for that folder that you'll realise that OneDrive is in it's default location. Finder search/spotlight doesn’t work for OneDrive files unless you’ve visited that folder already. Would love to have a discussion on the above points. Cheers.1.5KViews1like2CommentsiOS File Provider: Never getting file updates
In my iOS app, I am using UIDocumentPickerViewController to pick a file from a OnDrive file provider. I am using startAccessingSecurityScopedResource on the url I receive and register an NSFilePresenter for this url to get change notifications. When I read the contents of the file, I am using file coordination. Reading the initial content is working fine. When now however the file is changed on some other machine, I expect a change notification from the file presenter and I should be able to read the fresh data from the updated file. This is however not working. I am only getting fresh data, when I terminate my app and re-pick the file with the UIDocumentPickerViewController. Is this a fundamental limitation of the OneDrive file provider under iOS or is there some secret on how to get fresh data while the app is running?16Views0likes1CommentAdd option to change priority of file sync in the OneDrive app
There is no way to prioritise the download or upload of individual files in OneDrive. This is in contrast to Dropbox which has robust prioritisation features. Where this becomes an issue is if you want to download some files as a priority to allow you to continue work. This lacking feature is especially noticeable if you want to download/upload large files, but need smaller files to download/upload to continue working. It's features like this, and the lack of being able to cancel a download of an individual file that makes OneDrive feel half baked, dare I say, amature.15Views1like0CommentsAdd option to cancel download of individual files in the OneDrive App
Once a download starts in OneDrive on desktop, there is no way to stop it. This is a huge issue for anyone dealing with working files that link to multiple files. Files should be able to be cancelled on an individual basis. An example of when this lacking feature becomes a problem is if you open a Premiere Pro project that links to multiple videos, these videos will start downloading. If you then close the Premiere Pro project, the files linked within the project will still download. These may be many gigabytes worth of files. Other reasons why you might want to cancel a download: You may no longer need the file to be downloaded You may realise that your internet connection is too slow for the download but still need to download smaller files to continue working11Views0likes0CommentsReorganize Onedrive ADMX template folders to match MSFT standards for Policydefnitions
Dear Onedrive Team many things you achieved are really awesome and cannot be missed anymore. For a long time now the ADMX structure in the Onedrive Client folder is not matching these of other products like - Windows 10 / Server - Office - Teams - Edge I plea to consider this change request to restructure the current folder to meet with the microsoft defaults. Affected Products: Onedrive Client (incl. Onedrive for Business) Affected versions: all Usecase: Users/Admins can pick the files in the folder without intervention and place them to sysvol\policydefinitions Requested Actions: 1a. Machine based installation: rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\buildnumber\adm to admx 1b. User based installation: rename %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\BuildNumber\adm\ to admx reason: The folder contains no legacy adm files but modern admx files adm was used when it does really contain adm files (e.g. Office 2007/2010) 2. rename the folder structure according to the unified language descriptors (also called culture codes) current: en / de / fr expected: 4 letter language code with this convention ab-cd en-us, de-de, fr-fr, etc according to this list, as used in all other MSFT ADMX templates Language Code Table (lingoes.net) I see they are also using codes like en / de for not region specific languages like (German, with not further accent), yet this does not comply with the structure in Policydefinitions and Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) or eventually Intune. 3. Place the onedrive.adml into the specific (currently missing) subfolder en-US current state expected structure (aside there are some languages not shown in this example. cc: Stephen Rose Thank you very much on your feedback, perhaps also why Onedrive does actually differ here from other products, while I hope this is just unintended.3.9KViews3likes4CommentsHow to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive?
Need to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive. I'm almost running out of space on OneDrive, and I want to find a way to quickly download all of them somewhere, before deleting them from the cloud. Thing is, it seems like I have to scroll and drag click all of the photos; 3 years worth of them, which is really tedious to do. I was wondering if there was an easier way to just download all of them somewhere? Note that this isn't about the OneDrive files, it's the OneDrive photos section, which I don't think you could sync to your computer. I'm using a MacBook Air M1 2021, if it helps. Thanks!33KViews0likes6CommentsOneDrive changing dates
I have an S24 ultra with pictures dating back to 2001 till the current day. I have thousands of family photos that I was able to gather and organize, and wanted them to be synced with OneDrive so I can access them on my PC and my phone. I decided to get OneDrive to be able to upload ALL of my gallery to OneDrive however, I noticed that around 80% of everything getting uploaded has its dates changed to the time it was uploaded, while a handful remains accurate. I made sure it wasn't the way I was viewing the folder and files, and checked the properties/info of the files and saw that all the dates and data were changed. Is there any way to fix this or prevent this from happening?437Views0likes2CommentsOneDrive keeps reverting back to old account
I am unsuccessfully trying to remove an old OneDrive account and keep my Samsung S22 logged into the new OneDrive account. I go into settings and remove the old OneDrive account, then go to OneDrive and login to the new one. Then the next time I open OneDrive, it has reverted back to the old account - any idea how to resolve this annoying issue?7.1KViews2likes10CommentsSuggestion: URL scheme for onedrive synced locations
For a sharepoint site on the web, URLs are straightforward https:// ENTERPRISETENANT .sharepoint.com/sites/ SITENAME / LIBRARY Right now, if you need to coach someone through using a file in a way that requires syncing a folder, it's just a little too difficult. In the interest of making it more possible for coworkers to provide practical instructions to each other, we would really benefit from having a way to link files the implies use of an existing sync or onedrive shortcut, and which falls back to suggest creating a new one. Currently, we have to hope that our colleagues are using sharepoint site syncing the way that we hope they are, if we want to provide really specific context for things. e.g. If my relative path is %USERPROFILE%/My Enterprise Tenant name/SITENAME - Documents/project1 someone else's could be %USERPROFILE%/My Enterprise Tenant name/SITENAME - project1 OR %USERPROFILE%/OneDrive - My Enterprise Tenant name/Documents/project1 OR %USERPROFILE%/OneDrive - My Enterprise Tenant name/project1 Suppose we had new updates of OneDrive that set up a URL scheme that gets attached to an executable interpreter, and the interpreter takes what are otherwise the elements of an absolute https URL, but instead of opening a browser, it would compare it against the locally synced path (i.e. information from the "Accounts" settings). If there's a match, it could then link to a location on disk (probably via some kind of consent screen as an intermediate): -x-ms-onedrivesync://ENTERPRISETENANT.sharepoint.com/sites/SITENAME/LIBRARY/PATH/ If the URL is not represented among the onedrive folders that are synced, so far, then onedrive could propose that the user start syncing this folder, instead. I really prefer the idea of treating a "onedrive shortcut" and a "sync" folder the same, as long as it's for an equivalent location in the cloud. This got really confusing to explain to people, once the "shortcut" feature was introduced. Please? It would make things a lot easier. Does anything like this already exist? Is there a tool or a best practice that IT support at "work or school" organizations are already using to explain and talk about such things?17Views0likes0CommentsOnedrive Photos people tab constantly flickering
Onedrive Photos people tab is trying to open a side frame, then closing, then opening. It's happening on all 3 major browsers, cache cleared, incognito, no extensions etc. I tried to post more detail on the new Q&A site, no images or anything, just the console log, and it immediately deleted my post and banned me. So I'm trying over here.14Views0likes0CommentsStorage full but only 1% used
I am not an IT high knowledge. Can use programs but don't always understand how tings work. I have onedrive with 1TB storage. I am wanting to use the account for backup of my files on laptop. When I look at Manage my storage it says 1% in use but when I try to place folders/files onto onedrive it says not enough space. I cannot understand this. I've tried emptying the recycling bin but cannot seem to be able to delete anything - either in one go or individual files. Instructions say "Delete in Navigation Bar" but not on my screen! Can anyone help me please?3.3KViews1like4CommentsOneDrive Context Menu Missing on Windows 11
OneDrive Context menu missing Hi guys, I’m having some issues regarding OneDrive and it’s Context Menu not being present on files. Environment: Windows 11 23H2, Intune managed OneDrive Build: 25.005.0112.30003 (64-bit) Affected users: all I tried all the fixes I could find on the Internet, but none have helped. Devices don’t have issues with synchronization, they only have an issue with the Context Menu missing. I can only see Always Keep on this Device and Free Up Space. Even if I press Show More Options, only the same only two previously mentioned appear. Is there anything else which I could have missed? Intune policies – no one seems to control such a thing, the context menu. Is there really not a known fix for this issue? 1. I’ve went and added it manually, for both current user and all users, nothing has changed. 3. Yes, granted Microsoft is a step behind Google in Photo management, but with Google I can have my Windows Picture folder seamless linked to my Onedrive Pictures folder which is also seamless linked to my phone. That is, say I take a photo on my phone, it will show up in my Windows pictures folder (a local copy, not a cloud pointer) a couple minutes later. It makes accessing my photos with local software like Adobe lightroom so much easier. No downloading or copying. Amazon Photos use to do this too but they discontinued support for it. With that said, they only recently (past year) started doing facial recognition and the places recognition is essentially useless as Google Photos correctly detects about 100+ different places for a few thousand photos. Onedrive will only show me one page worth (18 places) with no ability to scroll down and see any more. Just a shame.23Views0likes0Comments
