Delighted to see this fantastic foundation from Wexford FC! We are proud to support a foundation that empowers young players and strengthens local communities. It was an absolute pleasure playing football with your academy, the talent and enthusiasm on display were incredible🙌. Your commitment to community development through football is truly inspiring 💪, and it's clear that the new Foundation will make a real difference across Wexford's 56 junior clubs 🏆. Thank you for having us and for the warm welcome at Ferrycarrig Park 🙏.
Wexford FC to Launch New Foundation to Support and Grow its Community Activities Panda announced as key sponsor of Wexford FC Foundation Wexford FC is launching a new Wexford FC Foundation to support and grow its community activities across the county. The new not-for-profit foundation will help Wexford FC to significantly expand its outreach into the community across three specific areas: football in the community, youth and grassroots development, and education and personal development through football. Wexford FC, which is owned by a supporters co-operative, has significant plans to boost its activities throughout the county. “Football has the power to change lives, and our goal is to harness that power to connect communities and to help people discover their full potential,” said Wexford FC Chief Executive Tony Doyle. “There are 56 junior clubs in the county, and we want to be engaging with them, and with community organisations and schools throughout Wexford.” Mr Doyle said the backing of Panda will play a major role in providing a firm financial footing for the new Wexford FC Foundation. “Panda’s financial support for the Foundation is absolutely invaluable, and we are thrilled to have them on board as a key sponsor for the Foundation. Moving towards the Foundation model will allow us to do more and to deepen and expand the relationships that we already have in the local community.” Panda Residential Director (Title TBC) John Brosnan said the company was delighted to partner with Wexford FC. “Panda is at the heart of the communities in Wexford and in other areas throughout Ireland, serving our customers and working with them and our stakeholders to boost recycling and reduce waste,” Mr Brosnan said. “We’re hugely supportive of Wexford FC’s vision and its plans to further expand its community activities and we’re really excited to be working with them,” he added. Through existing football in the community initiatives, Wexford FC has already launched a Powerchair football team and teams for players with Down Syndrome. With the launch of its new Foundation, it is planned to expand these programmes and also increase its soccer programmes further into key local communities. Wexford FC is also planning a range of youth and grassroots initiatives, such as schools programmes, seasonal camps for the summer and half term periods, and coach the coach initiatives to help the development of community clubs. The club also plans to use football as a tool to help enable personal and educational growth. It has a transition year programme for boys and girls across the country and plans to set up an education hub at Wexford FC’s Ferrycarrig Park, where children can learn about life skills, teamwork, leadership and mentoring.

The Foundation will focus on using football as a tool for positive change, creating more opportunities for young people, building stronger connections within local communities, and supporting personal development both on and off the pitch. To kick off this exciting partnership, members of our team joined the Wexford FC Academy at Ferrycarrig Park for a day filled with energy, collaboration, and plenty of football! ⚽ We’re proud to stand alongside Wexford FC as they expand their reach and impact through this exciting new foundation. 👏 Small actions like Meaghan Browne's initiative—collecting over 150 discarded energy gel wrappers while training—deserve recognition. Her effort highlights the power of individual responsibility in tackling the litter problem, especially in public and scenic areas. It’s also a timely reminder that waste doesn’t have to be wasted. Whether it’s holding onto packaging until you find a bin, or bringing it home to dispose of it properly—every small choice makes a difference. Preserving the beauty of Ireland’s green spaces, like Phoenix Park and the Royal Canal, starts with individual accountability and a shift in how we think about our impact on the environment. We'd love to know - what do green spaces mean to you? 🌿 #litterpicking #greenspaces #sustainablebehaviour
A woman living on Dublin’s northside collected more than 150 discarded energy gel wrappers while out training for a marathon in the Phoenix Park and along the Royal canal. Meaghan Browne began picking up the small plastic packets in March while running regular long-distance routes. She believes this is representative of a 'bigger issue we have with waste and entitlement', and began documenting the numbers to demonstrate just how widespread the problem has become. Energy gels, also known as running gels, are single-use pouches containing sugary carbohydrates often used during long-distance races and training. While runners typically spend time planning out what gels to use and when to take them, Ms Browne said that thought process seems to vanish once the gel is consumed. 'Perhaps races have made people think this type of behaviour is acceptable, where runners throw water bottles and empty gels on the ground for the many workers, mainly volunteers, to clean up,' she said. 'People think that, because they’re out exercising, they’re somehow exempt from responsibility. There’s this idea that some spaces are better looked after than others, especially where tourism or visibility plays a part. But this is happening in the most scenic parts of the park, and it’s not just a back lane problem' https://buff.ly/tzWfbjx

Panda Ireland reposted this
🌍 With #PlasticFreeJuly in full swing, it is a timely reminder that while becoming entirely plastic-free is a challenge for businesses, taking meaningful steps to reduce plastic waste is more important than ever. At Beauparc, we're committed to finding smarter, more sustainable ways to manage and recover plastic waste across our operations. Here are just a few of the initiatives we’re proud to be driving: 🔧 We've launched a state-of-the-art Metals and Plastics Recovery System to capture recyclable materials incorrectly placed in general waste. This is part of our wider €160m investment to enhance recycling infrastructure and help meet national targets. 🏭 As part of the recent UK simpler recycling legislation, we’re rolling out dedicated recycling containers to all qualifying businesses. This initiative ensures plastics and other recyclable materials are properly separated at the source, increasing recycling rates and reducing contamination. ♻️ Something you might not know is that in 2024, we introduced bio-drying of Municipal Solid Waste at one of our facilities in Littleton. This innovative process—carried out by our team at Panda Ireland —reduces moisture content and improves the separation of plastics, diverting valuable material from being lost to Energy from Waste. There’s still work to do, but every step matters. Together, we’re building a more circular future. 🌱 #plasticfree #plasticwaste #plasticpollution #lessplastic

Another milestone worth celebrating as we reflect on the recent launch of our second CNG fuelling station, delivered in partnership with Gas Networks Ireland. This latest development strengthens our ongoing commitment to decarbonising HGV transport and building a more sustainable future. 🍃 The launch also marked the introduction of the GRAZE Vehicle Grant Scheme – a €750,000 government-backed initiative supporting hauliers in transitioning to cleaner, low-emission fuels. A powerful example of public and private collaboration in action, with tangible steps being taken towards a greener transport sector. 🚛 We were honoured to be joined by Minister Darragh O'Brien TD, alongside valued colleagues and stakeholders, whose support underscores the importance of this work. Progress like this reinforces that we’re not only setting goals — we’re achieving them. You can read more about the new station and what it means for the future of green transport in our latest blog post here: https://lnkd.in/e-BPjn4v #GreenTransport #Decarbonisation #CNG #SustainableAlternative
Last week, Minister Darragh O'Brien TD officially opened Panda Ireland’s new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station on Cappagh Road, Co. Dublin, bringing the total number of CNG stations in Ireland to 12. The event also saw the launch of the GRAZE Vehicle Grant Scheme, a €750,000 government-funded initiative administered by Gas Networks Ireland. This scheme supports fleet operators that want to transition to cleaner, gas-powered HGVs and will help reduce the carbon footprint of Ireland's commercial transport sector, one of the most challenging to decarbonise. To find out more about how your business can benefit from the GRAZE scheme visit: https://lnkd.in/eS3hsSMX Congratulations again to Beauparc and Panda Ireland on the opening of their second CNG station, which can refuel up to 50 HGVs daily and support the continued growth of their CNG vehicle fleet. Panda x PM Group: Advancing Smarter Waste Management Thank you to Aidan Mc Donnell for delivering an excellent session during PM Group's recent site visit to our Recycling Facility in Dublin. Alongside Aidan was Michael Hannon, who provides invaluable, day-to-support on Eli Lilly and Company UK & Ireland's waste management strategy.🤝 This visit was part of our ongoing collaboration with PM Group Ireland to support sustainability and waste management initiatives at Eli Lilly Kinsale. It offered valuable insight into our downstream recycling processes and demonstrated how innovation — including AI sorting technology and our Cleaner Bin Imaging System — is shaping the future of waste segregation and circularity in Ireland. While still in the early stages of rollout, you can learn more about the Cleaner Bin Imaging System, its purpose, and expansion plans here: https://lnkd.in/e5QqEsP6 Our thanks also extends to Leo Morrissey, who oversees the operation of our MRF and expertly facilitated the site visit. This partnership is helping to inform more sustainable, data-driven practices at Eli Lilly, and we are proud to support their continued progress in improving waste performance and reducing environmental impact. 🌿 #Sustainability #PMGroup #EliLilly #SmartRecycling
