Are you prepared to explore the capabilities of Azure Virtual Desktop with a streamlined setup process? We are thrilled to announce the general availability of Quickstart, which helps you quickly deploy a sample environment and makes it easy to familiarize yourself with Azure Virtual Desktop and the new Windows App.
Think of Quickstart as your Azure Virtual Desktop test drive. Now you can have a fully functioning Azure Virtual Desktop environment up and running after answering only four deployment questions. This guided deployment enables two users to connect to a full virtual desktop session, consisting of one Windows 11 multisession host. Please note, Quickstart is for evaluation and non-production deployments only.
Get started with Quickstart
Try the guided Quickstart deployment by following these steps:
- Sign in to your Azure account. From the Azure Virtual Desktop overview page select Quickstart and then Create from the “Get started quickly with Azure Virtual Desktop” tile.

- After you select Review + Create, you'll be redirected to a post deployment page. As you wait for the deployment to complete, which takes approximately 20–30 minutes, you can watch a 12-minute overview video that explains the full capabilities of Azure Virtual Desktop. Follow instructions for downloading Windows App, which will provide access to your virtual desktop.
When the deployment is complete, you can immediately begin exploring the robust features of Azure Virtual Desktop. Discover seamless multisession capabilities, enhanced security, and the flexibility of accessing your desktop from anywhere.
