Exchange RBAC Challenge: Restricting Admin Level Access to Selected Mailboxes
Hi Exchange Brain Trust, I'm looking to implement a restriction for a specific group of admins (let's say Service Desk L1 team) so they do not have administrative access to executive EXO mailboxes (e.g., email address removed for privacy reasons, email address removed for privacy reasons), while retaining access to all other mailboxes. I've explored built-in RBAC configurations, Administrative Units, and role assignments in Exchange, but haven’t found a solution that meets this requirement. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!Curious_Kevin16Aug 03, 2025Iron Contributor64Views0likes4CommentsRequest on Exchange Server SE CU1 Codebase and Trial Version Behavior
Dear Microsoft Exchange Team and Community, I have questions about Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE): Codebase of Exchange SE CU1 vs. Exchange 2019 CU15 The roadmap says Exchange SE RTM matches Exchange 2019 CU15 codebase, with new features starting in SE CU1. Is SE CU1 a standalone codebase or a direct continuation of Exchange 2019 CU15 with added features? Behavior after Exchange SE trial expiration What happens when the SE trial expires? Are all functions fully retained? Are any services or features restricted or disabled? Will the server remain usable? Thanks for your clarification!24Views0likes0CommentsNo subject warning, but there is a subject
Hi everyone, For some weeks our user are reporting that Outlook gives a notification for 'no subject' when they send a mail. That is strange, because there is a subject in the mail. In some way, Outlook doesn't sees this subject. To make it even more strange, the issue does not occurs al the time. After restarting Outlook, it is away for some time. I tried serveral things to solve it - disabling plugins and updating Outlook among other things - but nothing has helped. The problem only occurs in Outlook 365 classic, with OWA there are no problems. Have any of you also encountered this problem? Hi all, On off our users has a problem with managing calendars in Outlook. When she uses Outlook Classic to manage a delegated calendar, she gets an error that she has no rights for that. But when she opens the same calendar in Outlook Web, she can manage the calendar and add/delete items. The permissions for the calendar are set with Powershell: Add-MailboxFolderPermission. With other users this method is working well. But for this user it is not working and Outlook gives an error. If the rights are OK for Outlook Web, then it should work too in Outlook Classic? Exchange 2016 trying to send mail to sargb.com. Instead of sending to their MX "sargb-com.mail.protection.outlook.com", it is sending mail to sargb.com (18.235.162.72). I cleared the DNS cache on the 2-domain controllers and flushed DNS on Exchange. What should I try next? About 1,5 years ago we moved all the email database to MS365 and since then used online the cloud solution. This was and is not a hybrid connection between the on-premises Exchange server and MS365. Now I want to delete all mailboxes of on-premises server and uninstall it. I am looking at this tutorial in this relation: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/decommissioning-exchange-server-2013/ba-p/3613793. With some differences (e.g. disabling and deleting mailboxes instead of migrating them) this seems to be a good way. But another tutorial suggests that a single server should be left for management (though this tutorial considers a hybrid installation with 2016/2019 EX-srv): https://www.alitajran.com/remove-last-exchange-server/ My question is: How do I remove (or at least minimize) a no-more used Exchange Server 2013 installation und Windows Server 2012 R2. Thank you in advance.rreimche620Jul 31, 2025Copper Contributor323Views0likes1CommentDeveloping Apps for Exchange Server
Hello everyone, I've built an AI Assistant for Outlook that works fine with the API's (email/calendar/todos). However some of the customers are asking how can they use it on their Microsoft Exchange accounts (on-premise servers). I don't have much experience in the Microsoft Exchange world, but I'm quite technical. Is technically possible to build an app that can integrate with hosted Exchange accounts and read emails, do AI Analysis, integrate with Calendar and everything like in the cloud? If yes, how is the authentication done? And not last, is hosted Exchange Server worth being investing in from a third party like me that wants to build on top of it, or businesses are switching to the cloud?ActorDO_AI_AssistantJul 31, 2025Copper Contributor18Views0likes1CommentOutlook with Exchange 2013 not working
Hi, We have Exchange 2013 and using Outlook 2019. In OWA we can search all emails with no issues. For all users in Outlook it only shows the most recent emails when we attempt to search and sits and spins when looking at older emails that are "stored" on the Exchange server. I have rebuilt the personal OST/PST files on user computers and get the same results. "Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus" Shows that the database is Mounted and Healthy. What else can I attempt to remedy this?N_B_2-5Jul 31, 2025Copper Contributor574Views1like1Comment
