🎉We’ve launched Phase One of our new 621,000 sq ft Aylesford Distribution Centre - including a 110,000 sq ft state-of-the-art freezer built to serve our customers in the South-East - reflecting our continued drive to deliver a fresher, faster, and more sustainable frozen food operation. The site will be fully operational in September when our Fresh DC will also go live, but in the meantime take a look at the moment we went live, from our first pallet, to our first pick and our first store delivery.

Last week at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Show, Natalie Smith our Head of Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries met with Dan Smith, Hub Farm Facilitator from Herefordshire Rural Hub CIC. We’re supporting their farmer-owned Wyescapes project in one of our key sourcing regions, the River Wye and Lugg catchments in Herefordshire. We’re proud to be working with our health charity partner Diabetes UK and author, nutritionist, and former NHS GP Rupy Aujla to raise awareness of type 2 diabetes. With over a third (35%) of people surveyed concerned about developing type 2 diabetes now or in the future, we’re supporting people through expert advice in our in-store Tesco Pharmacies, and have also developed a new meal planner in collaboration with Diabetes UK to help people living with or at risk of type 2 diabetes to shop for, and prepare, their meals. We know that our customers want to eat more healthily, but less than 1 in 10 kids eat their 5-a-day*. Hear from our Head of Health and Sustainable Diets Campaigns, Oonagh Turnbull, on how we’re helping families ensure they get the nutrition they need, by inviting Clubcard holders to take part in a five-week fruit and veg challenge over the summer, as well as offering free apples to kids in large stores 4-17 August, to make healthier choices easier and more accessible.
