Our Contracts Manager, Ben, had the pleasure of speaking to 80 students at King Alfred’s Academy during their school assembly. The school regularly uses Wantage Leisure Centre, where Ashe is currently working on behalf of Vale of White Horse District Council to decarbonise the facility. Ben shared insights into the refurbishment project and explained what decarbonisation means in the construction industry—and why it matters. He also led a site tour for ten Year 9 and 10 students, giving them a first-hand look at the sustainable technologies and techniques being used. The 30-week project is progressing well, with 115 photovoltaic panels now installed on the sports hall roof—an important step toward improving the building’s energy efficiency. #AsheGroup #buildingbetter

Ashe Roofing recently held an art competition at Wormley School. The students were challenged to draw their vision of a construction site — and they absolutely nailed it! Out of all the amazing entries, six standout drawings were selected and each received a construction-themed LEGO set as a prize. Ashe Construction is upgrading the offices at Europe’s first municipal recycling facility — the birthplace of curbside recycling in the UK! 🏗️ Procured through the Pagabo Refit & Refurb framework, the building was originally built in 1993, the site pioneered red & blue box recycling and remains a key part of Milton Keynes’ waste strategy. The office block, largely untouched since then, is now being modernised with: ✅ New kitchen, bathrooms, and meeting rooms ✅ Upgraded fire, security & data systems ✅ Energy-efficient windows & cladding ✅ Improved working space for the Council’s environmental team Despite summer heatwaves and tough site conditions, the project is progressing well thanks to strong teamwork and local collaboration. 💪 Ashe is also delivering other key projects in the area, including library upgrades and new autism support units in local schools. We recently hosted an art competition at our Bradwell and Priory School project, inviting students to explore the theme of sustainability through their creativity. Each school challenged their pupils to design a poster, with the winning entries from each year group selected by our client, Milton Keynes City Council. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Bedford Park, we’ve been able to donate surplus materials from Bedford Academy—materials that would have otherwise gone to waste—to St John’s School in Kempston, a SEND provision for pupils aged 2–19. These materials will now have a second life as part of a beautiful new sensory garden patio, built with the support of the Rotary Club.
