Construction has now begun on the new £19.5 million special school in Gloucester – a purpose-built facility that will create up to 200 specialist school places for children and young people with additional needs across the county. Last week, a group of our apprentices and management trainees took part in a coasteering adventure in Anglesey as part of the Ins-pire Academy – a fantastic initiative designed to develop confidence, collaboration, and leadership skills. From cliff jumps to coastal climbs, it was a brilliant day of team building that pushed everyone outside their comfort zones and brought the group even closer together. These experiences are a key part of how we invest in our early careers – by supporting personal growth alongside professional development. Construction is now underway on an exciting #regeneration project in South Cerney, where 82 new affordable and energy-efficient homes are being delivered in partnership with Bromford Flagship. The scheme will see the transformation of outdated 1960s properties into a modern mix of one- to four-bedroom homes — all designed to EPC A standards with solar panels, battery storage, and air source heat pumps. Once complete, the development will provide 63 homes for rent and 19 for shared ownership, helping to meet local demand while putting sustainability at the forefront. We’re proud to continue working in partnership with Bromford Flagship to help bring high-quality, energy-efficient homes to South Cerney, having been involved in the procurement and planning journey for the project. Brewing Something New at Kingsway! We’re excited to announce that E G Carter & Co Ltd has started construction on a brand-new Starbucks drive-thru at Kingsway, Gloucester, for long-standing client Robert Hitchins Limited. The 1,744 sq ft coffee shop, which has been pre-let to Starbucks franchisee The Magic Bean Company, replaces the former officers’ mess building in Naas Lane—breathing new life into the site with a modern and sustainable facility that will benefit both residents and workers in the area. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of officially handing over the newly completed extension at Harewood Primary School in Gloucester – a project that has created a fantastic new staff room for their dedicated team. What makes this scheme truly special is that it was delivered almost entirely by our directly employed team — from trades to leadership — many of whom began their careers with us. It’s a great example of the talent, experience, and commitment that exists within E G Carter & Co Ltd. We were incredibly proud to hear from the Headteacher, who said: "As soon as we found out that E G Carter & Co Ltd would be delivering this project, we knew we were in safe hands." This project embodies what we stand for: career progression, community roots, and a workforce built from within. It's a project for Gloucestershire, delivered by Gloucestershire people.
