Calling all hotels, venues and businesses in Leeds – Have your say on the city’s development! Leeds City Council is inviting businesses and residents to take part in a consultation on the future of land use and development across the district, as part of its update to the Local Plan. The consultation is open for 10 weeks from Monday July 7 to Monday September 15. Your feedback will help guide decisions on where new homes, businesses, and services should be located, ensuring that Leeds continues to grow in the right way, in the right places. Leeds is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe, said Councillor Jonathan Pryor. Leeds' tourism and hospitality industry plays a crucial role in the city's economy and creates over 60,000 jobs. It’s vital our sector has a voice in shaping what comes next in the city. For more information: https://lnkd.in/espRf9UT

LeedsBID is bringing Leeds International Festival of Ideas (LIFI) back, and it’s bolder than ever. The annual festival brings together a diverse range of voices from across the worlds of culture, politics, science, health, technology, and arts. It provides a platform for bold conversation, fresh thinking, and innovative ideas. Now in its fifth year, the festival continues to showcase Leeds as a vibrant, innovative city full of ideas and energy. Among the dynamic debates, LIFI is also shining a spotlight on a topic close to our hearts - the future of hospitality with a panel discussion named ‘Who picks up the tab for a hospitable city?’ Hosted by Peg Alexander, the panel features Andrew Cooper, Zoe Hands, and fred sirieix in a timely conversation on how to keep our cities vibrant, how to attract inward investment, and how we can better support the hospitality industry amid rising costs and ongoing challenges. Last Wednesday, we came together to celebrate the fantastic achievements of students from across Leeds who took part in the Connecting Schools to Hospitality programme 2025. Over the past six months, there have been 12 partnership between participating LHVA members and local schools across the city to give young people hands-on experience in the hospitality sector - from front-of-house to events, kitchens, and beyond. The celebration event, held at Leeds City College’s Printworks Campus, brought together students, families, educators, and industry professionals to reflect on their journeys and recognise each school’s “Shining Star.” A huge thank you to all of our brilliant students, dedicated schools, and LHVA partners for their incredible efforts and enthusiasm throughout the programme. We’re also incredibly grateful to Employment and Skills Leeds Leeds City Council, Hospitality Connect Ltd - partnering industry with schools, the team at Leeds Hotels and Venues Association, Leeds City College, and Leeds Beckett University for their ongoing support. Together, you're helping to create clearer, more inspiring pathways into hospitality for the next generation of talent in Leeds.
