After more than 30 years as Chief Executive of Paragon Banking Group PLC, I am pleased to be joining LinkedIn. My aim is to contribute more directly to the conversations shaping UK banking, our business and our people. Paragon has evolved significantly since I joined the business in 1987. From our origins as a specialist lender, we have grown into a diversified, digitally enabled banking group, focused on supporting customers across a wide range of sectors. This year marks both my 30th year as Chief Executive and Paragon’s 40th anniversary. It is a fitting moment to reflect on how far the business has come and to look ahead to the next phase of our development. There’s never been a more exciting time to be leading Paragon, as we deliver a step change in our capabilities and offerings, including launching Spring, our new savings account app, which is disrupting the inert savings market and delivering better outcomes for consumers. Additionally, the financial services sector is evolving at a rapid pace and I’m a passionate advocate for the role that mid-tier and specialist banks play in supporting the economy, delivering innovation and serving areas of the market that the mainstream high street institutions cannot. To unlock the full potential of this segment of the market, we must ensure a regulatory environment that is both progressive and proportionate. What I’ve always valued most are the people behind this journey. The teams who care deeply about what we do. The customers and partners we’ve supported for decades. And the culture we’ve built – one that still feels, in many ways, like a family. Through this platform, I look forward to sharing updates on the business, engaging with our stakeholders, and commenting on the wider banking landscape and the themes that matter to the future of our industry.
