Last week, a few of us from the Reason Digital team had the chance to attend Camp Digital and it gave us a lot to think about. 🤔 Claire Dellar’s session was a standout: an engaging and refreshingly interactive deep dive into accessible design through the lens of the social model of disability. It was a much-needed reminder that good design isn’t just about what looks clean or works fast, it’s about who gets left out when we don’t design with care. Hera Hussain, founder of CHAYN, delivered a powerful talk on trauma-informed design, highlighting the importance of creating digital experiences that acknowledge and respond to users who may have been failed by systems or people meant to protect them. A timely and vital perspective for anyone building services in the social impact space. And it was reassuring to hear our own Jane’s ongoing skepticism around AI echoed by others, reminding us that critical thinking is just as important as innovation in our sector. We left feeling energised, challenged, and grateful to be part of a community that’s pushing digital to be better Thanks to the organisers and speakers for the inspiration. #DigitalForGood #InclusiveDesign #TraumaInformedDesign #CampDigital

🤖✨ Can AI still feel human? In her recent talk, our Director of Design and UX Research, Jane Murison, explores how we can design AI-powered services that not only function, but also care. From protecting vulnerable young people to supporting marginalised communities in healthcare, Jane shares grounded examples of how AI can be shaped for good. It’s not about chasing hype. It’s about solving the problems that actually matter. 🎧 Watch the recording: https://lnkd.in/eKXrFCDk #AIForGood #SocialImpact #DigitalEthics #TechForGood #UXDesign #ServiceDesign

✨ A night of inspiration at the Scottish Charity Awards ✨ Last week, Dan, Claire and Rufus had the chance to attend the Scottish Charity Awards! And they left with full hearts and a deep sense of awe. These three organisations in particular stood out, not just for their innovation, but for the care and determination they bring to their communities: 💜 Scottish Autism x HMP Barlinnie When a family liaison officer noticed how many children visiting the prison were autistic, she reached out to Scottish Autism. Together, they co-created a support programme for fathers: nurturing understanding, building communication, and ultimately strengthening relationships between parents and their children. 🍞 Touch of Love Outreach (TOL) Touch of Love began with a simple, powerful question: “How are you doing?” The answer was: “We need milk and bread.” From that moment, Jane Akadiri FCCA MBA built an organisation that now supports over 10,700 people in Torry, Aberdeen. From youth activities to food banks and maternal mental health support. 🏋️♀️ Letham4All After losing their community centre, this small team went straight to the local people to rebuild something better together. From a community fridge and accessible gym, to over-60s social mobility schemes and financial wellbeing support, Letham 4 All is helping challenge assumptions and unlock local pride. It was a joy to hear from grassroots changemakers, many of whom are delivering the most profound impact with the smallest teams. Their work is proof that meaningful change doesn’t always come from the largest budgets, but from listening, empathy and radical collaboration. #SocialImpact #TechForGood #ScottishCharityAwards #ChrarityDigital #Collaboration

At Reason Digital, we're honoured to have collaborated with Age UK to enhance their Telephone Friendship Service (TFS), a lifeline for thousands of older individuals experiencing loneliness. By integrating Microsoft Azure and it's OpenAI speech-to-text capabilities, we've developed a system that transcribes and analyses calls for sensitive content, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants. This innovation has streamlined the monitoring process, allowing Age UK to focus resources where they're most needed. This partnership exemplifies how technology can be harnessed to address real-world social issues, aligning with our mission to solve problems that actually matter.
