  • At Royal London, we understand the need for flexibility in work schedules to help with work-life balance for our colleagues. We’re proud of our consistent hybrid working approach and of the flexible working options available. Our benefits reinforce this including all colleagues having the opportunity to buy or sell up to 5 holiday days each year alongside a generous annual leave provision. Imogen Russell, Recruitment Co-ordinator, shares: “I’m delighted to have this benefit. Being able to buy extra holidays this year has allowed me flexibility with scheduling appointments to organise my wedding without running out of holiday days toward the end of the year." 📢 Women in Personal Finance Survey reveals high levels of levels of satisfaction around job flexibility, support and career opportunities across the sector. The initial findings of our Women’s Wealth Alliance (WWA) landmark survey have been published today and you can download the report here - https://lnkd.in/eX5jv6V7 Some key takeaways are: ➡️88% of women surveyed currently working in the personal finance sector reported that there is a great deal/ fair amount of job flexibility in their role ➡️82% think that they have a good work-life balance.  ➡️93% of women surveyed who are currently, or have previously worked in the financial planning role would recommend it to other women. However, only 26% of women surveyed outside of this role would consider it in their future career.  Managed independently by YouGov, the survey attracted 540 responses from women in a wide range of roles across the sector - including financial planning and coaching, mortgage and protection advice, academy members, paraplanning, compliance and T&C and support roles. Many thanks to everyone who took part or helped to share and support and also to our sponsors, IBOSS Asset Management, LV=, Royal London and Quilter, who share our belief in data-led responses to attracting and advancing more women within personal finance. Following a series of more in-depth, individual interviews over the summer, the WWA will publish a White Paper in the Autumn, exploring key themes in more detail and proposing initial workstreams. #WomensWealthAlliance #WomeninFinance #DiversityinFinance

  • Thank you to our colleague-led Disability AWareness Network (DAWN) for hosting an event last month exploring managing long-term health conditions in the workplace. They created a safe, supportive space where colleagues shared personal stories and exchanged practical ideas, reflecting DAWN’s ongoing commitment to championing inclusion and wellbeing across Royal London. Sam McLoughlin, Underwriter, shares why this conversation is important to him as co-lead of DAWN: “Royal London’s support for colleagues with long-term health conditions is not just our policy, it is lived experience. Our recent DAWN event illustrated how we create a safe space for open and honest conversations that help colleagues feel seen, supported and connected.” #TheFeelingsMutual #Wellbeing #SupportAtWork

The Chancellor’s Mansion House speech marks a welcome shift in the Government’s rhetoric from the stick of mandating investment in UK markets to more of a carrot. The initiatives announced will help people engage with the long-term benefits of investing their savings, while contributing to growth in the economy.

  • 💜 Something small that could save a life. We’re proud to now have Kitt Medical anaphylaxis kits installed across all our offices, a simple but powerful step in ensuring our workplaces are safer for everyone. This week, colleagues Adam Eeles JP, Assoc CIPD and Katrina Gnyp gave our Alderley Park office colleagues opportunity to get hands-on with the kit and build confidence in using it. Huge thanks to everyone who got involved — especially those who stepped out of their comfort zone to give it a go! And thank you to our Workplace partner Craig Banks for his ongoing support. #WorkplaceSafety #TheFeelingsMutual #FirstAidTraining

Something small that could save a life. 💉💜❤️ We’ve now got a Kitt Medical anaphylaxis kit installed here at Royal London to help protect colleagues, visitors and contractors in case of a severe allergic reaction. Today I had the chance to show people how it works, demo the trainers, and reassure a few nervous users who’d never held a pen before. Lots of brilliant engagement and even managed to rope in a few members of our Recruitment team to give it a go! Such a simple but important addition to our workplace safety. 🟠 Big thanks to Kitt Medical and to Royal London for investing in our health and wellbeing. A special mention to Caroline Garland for organising the installation. 🟣 Great to see Imogen Russell and Zoe Tilford, to name a few, getting stuck in and asking the right questions. #AnaphylaxisAwareness #WorkplaceSafety #PeopleFirst #HR #Inclusion #RoyalLondon

I had the honour of speaking to teams at Royal London in Edinburgh, London, and Dublin in the last few weeks. The conversation was not easy. I spoke about adversity, resilience, and what true leadership demands of us - especially when the path is far from smooth. Delivering it wasn’t without challenge, nor raw emotion. The subject was deeply personal and focused on my childhood experiences. I shared stories that come from a childhood shaped by war - experiences that were, at times, chaotic and uncertain, but which taught me how to stay grounded when everything around me was shifting. When you grow up in an environment where survival depends on awareness, on reading a room instinctively, and making decisions quickly - you develop a kind of leadership that’s hard to teach in a classroom. You also gain perspective and learn about what truly matters in life. Adversity builds leaders who see beyond the obvious, because they’ve had to. Leaders who plan for what others might not anticipate, and stay composed in chaos, because they’ve been there. Empathy is key to all of it. The truth is: teams don’t just need strategic leaders - they need human ones. Leaders who carry resilience as a quiet strength. Leaders who know how to respond with emotional intelligence, because they’ve lived through moments when that was all they had. To everyone at Royal London who listened, reflected, and shared their own stories - thank you. These conversations matter more than ever. And I’m grateful to have had them with you. #Leadership #Resilience #Adversity #RoyalLondon #LeadingWithPurpose
