What happens when you give young people the chance to step inside the world of news and sports production? When Thalia joined our Get Started in News & Sport programme with The King's Trust, she hoped to gain insight into TV production. She left with a new network, greater confidence and secured a full-time job as a junior videographer with a Sky partner agency at Edmonds Elder, who she met during the programme. “I learned so much, made great friends, and grew in confidence,” she says. “I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a step into journalism, sport or TV.” Her story is exactly why we run programmes like this, to build confidence, open doors, and help young people take their first meaningful steps into the industry. Congratulations, Thalia – we can’t wait to see where your creativity takes you next 🙌 Watch her week on the programme below.

Did you know that the number of young people not in work in the UK is enough to form the UK’s third-largest city? 🏙️ That’s a staggering 900,000 young people. That’s why we’re supporting Sky’s charity partner The King's Trust with gifted airtime on Sky’s channels for their ‘Working For Young People’ campaign that shines a light on youth unemployment. Through our partnership with The King’s Trust 🤝 , Sky aims to help provide young people with the skills and confidence to start a career, and we’re proud to join The King’s Trust in their commitment to ensure every young person has the chance to succeed.
