South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Paramedic Jess and ECA Liz, based on the Isles of Scilly, are taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon in October to raise funds for South Western Ambulance Charity. They're keen to support their local volunteer Community First Responders who make such a vital contribution on the islands, and to support communities to learn lifesaving CPR skills. Liz has confirmed that one of their biggest challenges is finding long enough routes to complete the training runs - although the coastal views are spectacular. ECA colleague, Serena, is unfortunately unable to run with them due to injury but will join them as Chief Cheerleader, Photographer and Jelly Baby Distributor! 👉 Please show them your support at https://lnkd.in/e94Ydtk3 #TeamSWASFT 💚🚑 #islesofscilly #cardiffhalf #fundraising Zoe Larter - South Western Ambulance Charity Louise Walsh MCIOF Ally Stenner Rachael Assaf Sammy Kettell Jess Hodges Nicola Kate Ash Nicola Moorhouse 💙

About us
The South Western Ambulance Charity goes the extra mile for the staff, volunteers and communities served by the South Western Ambulance Service. We support our exceptional staff and volunteers by providing enhanced facilities and equipment, and supporting improvements to their health, well-being and personal development. We also support communities across the South West by increasing public access to defibrillators enabling more people experiencing cardiac arrest to quickly receive a life-saving shock, giving them the best possible chance of survival.

A South Western Ambulance Charity project donating Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADs) to target areas is now underway. The first one is now available thanks to Millfields Trust as they have installed one on their iconic HQ Building on Union Street in #Plymouth. Head of Charity, Zoe Larter, explains; “Using our Strategic CPAD Placement tool, we’re able to identify areas where health inequality data indicates that they may benefit most from having 24/7 access to a defibrillator. We are working with a range of local partners to support installation of the donated CPADs at their premises and to become their Guardians. We are immensely grateful for their support”. This CPAD placement initiative has been made possible by a generous legacy gift from a man called Geoffrey. His gift will enable potentially life-saving shocks to be given as part of the chain of survival for individuals experiencing a cardiac arrest in the community. https://lnkd.in/epcnDXn8 #Teamswasft #savinglivestogether #lastinglegacy South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust 💚🚑 Zoe Larter - South Western Ambulance Charity , Louise Walsh MCIOF , Louise B. In Volunteers Week 2023, we launched our first 6 Community Response Vehicles (CRVs), dedicated for use by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Community First Responder #volunteers. The 7th car soon followed. Two years later, we're delighted to have taken delivery of the first of 7 more converted and fully equipped CRVs that we aim to fund through our £210,000 Community Response Vehicle Fundraising Appeal. The car has been handed over to the #Gloucestershire Volunteering & Community Services team, with our very grateful thanks to Gloucestershire County Council Build Back Better grant, Rotary Club #ChippingCampden and District , Chipping Campden Community Trust and many other wonderful supporters, fundraisers and donors. We’ve been working with our #NHS #charities and NHS Charities Together 💙 colleagues today. #Fundraising2025
I like to find ways to make brilliant things happen! Charity Fundraiser Manager. Business Development Lead. Trustee.
It was brilliant to be greeted by the image of a staff member from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust on arrival at the NHS Charities Together 💙 ‘Fundraising For Impact’ conference in Birmingham. It’s a reminder that not every NHS Charity is linked to a hospital (although most are to be fair!). Another inspiring and informative event, with lots of brilliant ideas to take back to South Western Ambulance Charity 🚑💚. Thank you to all involved.

Time for an update on our major Community Response Vehicle (CRV) Fundraising Appeal ... to the end of March you've raised a fantastic £130,000! Many thanks to all our donors, fundraisers and supporters for helping us to get to this point. The first of these cars will soon be ready for action. £80,000 still to go! Could you help us fundraise? You could hold a bake sale, host a quiz, make us your Charity Of The Year, or persuade your CEO to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet (with a parachute!). These cars are dedicated for use by volunteer Community First Responders to help support patients in their local communities in critical moments. https://lnkd.in/eXvZX8BT #Teamswasft South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Zoe Larter - South Western Ambulance Charity Louise Walsh MCIOF Nicola Kate Ash Nicola Moorhouse 💙 Ally Stenner John Martin

He did it! Huge congratulations to George on completing the 2025 London Marathon and raising over £4000 for the South Western Ambulance Charity. Despite the heat, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Emergency Care Assistant, George, absolutely smashed the challenge and finished in 3hr 17 minutes! George reported; "Amazing experience! Crowd support is overwhelming throughout the entire course. What a day and super pleased to compete my very first marathon. Final 5k was so tough! Once in a life time opportunity and thrilled I had managed to raise an incredible amount of money for the South Western Ambulance Charity." George, you are an absolute legend! Our Charity has been very fortunate to have your support in our 30th anniversary year and delighted that you had such an incredible experience along the way. If you have been inspired and want to take on the 2026 TCS London Marathon the public ballot is now open and closes on Friday 2 May at 4pm, or try for our one 2026 Charity place in July. Thank you to Cheltenham Racecourse for giving us the amazing opportunity to hold a charity bucket collection on the exits on one day at the world famous Cheltenham Festival. Thanks to the superb efforts of volunteers and staff from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust who braved freezing cold and wet conditions, and to the wonderful generosity of race goers' donations, we collected an amazing £6563 (and a few Euros)! Money raised is helping towards our £210,000 Community Response Vehicle Appeal - buying, converting and equipping 7 more cars dedicated to volunteer Community First Responders, supporting patients in their communities across the South West. https://lnkd.in/eKiQER2w #TeamSWASFT #NHS #Charity #SavingLivesTogether Zoe Larter - South Western Ambulance Charity Louise Walsh MCIOF , Nicola Moorhouse 💙 , Nicola Kate Ash , Ally Stenner

A team of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust colleagues from #Trowbridge and #Warminster stations will take part in the highly competitive 2025 White Horse Soapbox Derby in Westbury, #Wiltshire, to raise money for the South Western Ambulance Charity. Emergency Care Assistants Luke, Jessyca, Stuart and Lisa, and Paramedics Claire and Steve, are busy building the soapbox for the challenging three-race day in May. Luke, Stuart and Steve will be riding the soapbox, with no engines involved – just very big hills, lots of turns and hopefully no crashes! You can help them by... 👉 Making a donation at https://lnkd.in/eNNjG6cT... 👉 Becoming a Team Sponsor, helping them to cover their build and entrance costs and raise funds for South Western Ambulance Charity (email charity@swast.nhs.uk for details). 👉 Lend a helping hand at their fundraising car wash on 3rd February (email luke.harris@swast.nhs.uk for details). #TeamSWASFT 💚 🚑
