We have an update to share about the Paignton and Preston Promenade coastal defences. Development is planned to start at Paignton on 22 September 2025 and at Preston on 30 September 2025. This will allow a clear summer season before the work starts. The coastal flood defences and improved public spaces will protect local properties and businesses and will attract more people to the area. The scheme will deliver long term benefits for all to enjoy, securing the future of Paignton and Preston. Visit the scheme's webpage to find out more - https://lnkd.in/g2rqH4uw

All pipework repairs are complete in Sands Road, Paignton. SWISCo’s contractor is now back-filling the trench before restoring the road surface. Back-filling will take longer than usual due to the depth of the trench at 4m (13ft) and poor ground conditions. The cavity has to be filled carefully to avoid the sides of the trench collapsing. Sands Road will remain closed while this work takes place for the safety of the public and the workforce. If all goes to plan, we expect to reopen the road by the end of next week. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during these emergency repairs.
