When someone wakes up in hospital after a critical illness or injury, who is the first person they see? 🚁 Meet Helen, our Aftercare Manager, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in #Oxford. When the emergency ends, Helen’s work begins. She supports patients at their bedside in the hours, days and weeks that follow - helping them piece together what happened and offering support during one of the toughest moments of their lives. 🎥 Watch the video to follow in Helen’s footsteps and see the difference our Aftercare team make beyond the scene of the emergency. The world looks different from above. 🚁 Our crew need to recognise towns, roads and landmarks in seconds - it's all part of getting to the patient, fast. See anywhere you recognise in this #ViewFromTheCrew? Let us know in the comments below. 👇

📍 #Marlow, Buckinghamshire.📍#Theale, Berkshire.📍#Oxford, Oxfordshire. What do these three locations have in common? They're all places within our patch, and they all represent the kind of communities we're here for day in, day out. Since becoming an independent healthcare provider in 2018, we’ve responded to 20,000 emergencies. That's more call outs than the entire populations of Marlow and Theale combined, or one for every eight people living in Oxford. Whether we're responding to a cardiac arrest or a road traffic collision, behind every call out is a real person, our crew doing everything they can to save a life, and people like you whose donations fund every mission. Thank you. 🚁❤ #Charity #AirAmbulance #CriticalCare

🚁 Here’s something you might not know about our critical care paramedics… When they’re flying to the scene of an emergency, they’re already thinking ahead — not just about what care the patient might need, but where the helicopter can safely touch down. That’s because they’re specially trained to support our pilots with in-flight navigation and landing. Here are some of the things they consider when looking for the perfect landing spot: 🎾 A space the size of two tennis courts 🚁 A flat, even surface 🌳 No obstructions like pylons, trees, wires or livestock ⚕️ Ability to access the patient from where we land Put yourself in their shoes, what else might you keep an eye out for when identifying a safe space to land? 🚁 This is Matt, one day after his accident. After colliding with a car while cycling, his life hung in the balance. Barely conscious and unable to breathe, our crew arrived on scene to give him a fighting chance. But survival was only the beginning. This video shows real footage from that day and the long recovery journey that followed. As an independent charity, we receive no government or NHS funding. Everything we do - at the scene of the emergency and beyond - is only possible because of people like you. 🎟️ Play our Summer Raffle to help more people like Matt survive and recover when the worst happens. Tickets are £1 and you could win up to £5,000. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ePnkp6NY #Charity #AirAmbulance #SummerRaffle #CriticalCare #Aftercare #HEMS

A rare moment to pause, reset, and catch their breath. 🚁 Just minutes earlier, our crew were providing urgent critical care to someone whose life hung in the balance. With the patient safely in hospital, it's time for the next task - repacking equipment and preparing for the next person who needs us. It’s been a busy time for our crew, and the calls keep coming. Thanks to you, we’re always ready to respond. Your support powers every mission. ❤️

Isn’t it amazing when little things add up? As a charity, small change can make a big difference to us. So, when Firstxtra Financial Services Ltd said they’d give £5 for every mortgage taken out this year, we knew it would soon add up. Sure enough, they’ve now raised £2,015! Thank you for the ongoing support and fantastic donation, your fundraising ensures that we can continue to support people with our lifesaving work.🚁 #FridayFundraiser
