“Edna Boampong was a true asset to our team and I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her for 17 months, from November 2019 to April 2021. During which time, she was not only my manager but also a mentor and a friend, who has helped me through her advice and guidance, to improve my confidence and to further develop my skillsets. Under her leadership, we worked together on a range of interesting and thought-leading projects including; a rebranding project to modernise the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership’s corporate identity and bring it more in line with the organisation’s core aims. Alongside vastly improving the Partnership’s communications and engagement with key stakeholders, by redeveloping its website, social media platforms, programme bulletins and stakeholder newsletter ‘Connect’. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we also worked on a number of key initiatives to support our local Cheshire and Merseyside communities, including launching the ‘Kind to Your Mind’ campaign, aimed at supporting the mental health and wellbeing of people living and working in the region during the pandemic. Additionally, Edna also commissioned a major research project amongst black, asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities across the footprint, to help understand their views, attitudes and experiences of COVID-19. The insights from which, helped in the development of our ‘Let’s Get Vaccinated’ campaign, which utilised representatives from within our local BAME communities to address some of the main barriers we’d identified as blockers to people getting the COVID-19 vaccination, to promote the facts and improve vaccine uptake. Throughout my time working with Edna, I’ve found her to be an incredibly hardworking individual, who is extremely passionate about and driven to, making a real difference through the work that she does. I’ve learnt a lot from her, especially in terms of my own role as a communicator, in championing equality, diversion and inclusion and I’d highly recommend Edna if you’re looking for someone who can really take your communications and engagement to the next level. ”

In October 2020 I wrote a proposal to secure the funding to enable me to commission a substantial insight research project to gain a better understanding of how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in Cheshire and Merseyside and their views about the vaccination programme.
The findings from the research were then used to develop a targeted campaign to address vaccine hesitancy within these communities. -
