I don’t just track completed tasks – I track the quality of decisions being made. A project can be “on time” and still miss the mark entirely. Progress becomes meaningful when it reveals learning: Where did we pivot? What changed – and why? These reflection loops are, to me, the clearest sign of real momentum. Transparency without context is just control. Leadership means making meaning – not just measuring.

I break down goals into milestones with clear deliverables, then use a tool like Airtable or Jira to track ownership, progress, and risks. These tools help us surface blockers early and keep everyone moving in sync. I also advocate sharing key data before meetings whenever possible. It gives stakeholders time to process and come prepared, which leads to more productive conversations and faster decisions.

I ensure my team's project goals stay on track by setting clear weekly milestones, using tools like Trello for visibility, and having short daily syncs. Personally, I believe regular communication and celebrating small wins keep the team motivated and aligned.

Start with the WHY. One of the biggest differentiators between a high-performing team and one that struggles is clarity, not just on the what, but the how and why of goals. In my consulting work through I've seen that successful teams use the STAR method: Specific, Trackable, Achievable, Relevant, and Real-time. How I track progress: 1. Weekly goal reviews: Not just task updates, we ask “What impact did this have?” 2. Data-driven retrospectives: We use KPIs, but also look at team morale, cross-functional efficiency, and customer outcomes. 3. Transparency dashboards: Whether using Power BI, Trello, or custom-built AI tools, visibility drives accountability

To keep my team’s project goals on track 1) I like to start by making sure everyone is on the same page from day one. That means clearly breaking down the larger goal into smaller, manageable tasks, setting timelines, and assigning responsibilities based on each team member’s strengths. 2) I believe holding regular check-ins to review progress, addressing any roadblocks early, and using simple tools like Trello or shared sheets to keep things organized and transparent for the whole team. 3) I would focus on maintaining open communication and team morale; being approachable, offering help when someone’s stuck, and staying proactive so we as a team can adapt quickly and keep moving towards our goal.

For me project goals aren’t just targets, they’re team level trust. I don’t chase updates. I build momentum through visual cues, pulse check-ins & 1 minute blockers. It’s not about control. it’s about clarity, rhythm, and shared wins. That’s how teams move from delivery to ownership. 🙌
