This summer, #VINCIConstructionGrandsProjetsUSA had the honor of having Makayla, Arnold, Kasper, Jonathan and Samuel as Interns on the #HamptonRoadsBridgeTunnel Expansion Project in Norfolk, Virginia. Each coming from several colleges in the USA with fresh energy, curiosity, and a commitment to learning that enriched every part of their experience. Our Interns became an essential part of the construction site, gaining real-world exposure, contributing to meaningful work and learning firsthand what it takes to deliver an infrastructure project. From supporting inspections on bridge sites to working with fiber optic installation, reviewing MEP systems and participating in field operations and documentation, their roles touched multiple technical areas. They were hands on in safety walks, logistics planning, as well as field engineering coordination, bridging the gap between what they learned in class with what unfolds on site. What united them was a deep appreciation for the collaborative team environment, the mentorship they received as well as the scale and complexity of the project itself. They leave the site with stronger skills, lasting connections and a clearer vision of their path forward in the industry. We’re proud of each Intern’s growth this summer and thankful for their dedication. 🚧 HRBT: Our Tunnel Boring Machine Mary Continues Her Mission! One year ago, Mary, our giant tunnel boring machine (the second largest in North America), broke through the headwall of the North Island, marking the completion of the first bored tunnel – a historic milestone for Virginia and the HRBT Expansion Project. Mary is still on track and has already surpassed 597 rings, halfway to the South Island. The goal: to deliver the second bored tunnel by the end of the summer. Happy anniversary #Mary! Happy Anniversary HRBT North Trestle-East! One year ago today (May 3) motorists made a smooth transition to the new HRBT Expansion Project North Trestle Eastbound. It was the first new bridge at the HRBT in more than 50 years! Get ready because this summer we put 2 lanes of eastbound traffic on the new 8-lane mega South Trestle from the HRBT to Willoughby Spit (pictured right) in yet another project milestone.
