    “I have known Major (R) James Felts (Spartan 6) since 2008 when he first took command over my unit. I served with him as his Full Time Readiness NCO for the Detachment. Under his leadership, the full time staff was able to take care of our Soldier's administrative needs quickly and efficiently. From pre-mobilization to deployment he maintained a constant Command presence, motivating his Soldiers to push hard to complete the task at hand. James is one of the best Company Commanders I have had the pleasure of serving with. His ability to communicate his intent, motivate others, and lead was instrumental to the success of our mission. I can also say, that when I had my dark times in Iraq, he showed genuine concern and did everything he could to take care of me, a young Sergeant at the time. Even after deployment, James has continued to show that he cares for his Soldiers. Even when he went to the Reserves, he was still trying to help me advance my career. James is an excellent leader, and excellent mentor, and an excellent friend. He has helped me in every aspect as a person, and I know he will continue to serve others just as well.
