A Coach's Son
-
My Father was a successful High School Football Coach, Athletic Director and Administrator and my Mother a teacher. My father began teaching me about coaching, team building and peak performance when I was 9 years old and I grew up in the locker room, sideline, coaches office and film room. My Mother also taught me about teaching and helping others develop a passion for learning. My father also exposed me to other great coaches and leaders who I learned from and continue to study…
My Father was a successful High School Football Coach, Athletic Director and Administrator and my Mother a teacher. My father began teaching me about coaching, team building and peak performance when I was 9 years old and I grew up in the locker room, sideline, coaches office and film room. My Mother also taught me about teaching and helping others develop a passion for learning. My father also exposed me to other great coaches and leaders who I learned from and continue to study today.
I was also blessed to have spent time one-on-one with John Wooden who I considered a friend and mentor. I have been applying what I learn about leadership, coaching and peak performance to business and life since I started working in retail in 1971. I have now developed keynotes, workshops, courses and coaching session to help others apply the unique lessons a coach's son learns and am understanding more everyday how blessed I am to have had this unique education. -

Activities and Societies: Student Body Vice President
My parents, both teachers and a coach said, "If you want to learn leadership, sales management and sales, go study in the real world". This advise came after they had raised me to be a coach and teacher.
Family friend, Bobby Cox, Manager of the Atlanta Braves, reminded me I am doing what they raised me to do.
I have also learned, if you want to grow and stay young, keep learning. Read, listen , be present and observe...Then read some more and not just books...the internet…My parents, both teachers and a coach said, "If you want to learn leadership, sales management and sales, go study in the real world". Was blessed to grow up the son of a high school football coach and elementary school teacher in a small town environment. Kingsburg is a great place to grow up and most famous for being the hometown of Decathalon Champion Rafer Johnson and his brother, Hall of Fame Football player Jim Johnson...Both family friends.
