Course details

Bridge the gap between theory and application by building your own intrusion detection system (IDS). In this project, you'll gain practical insights into how cybersecurity systems detect abnormal network behavior, moving beyond closed-source, black-box solutions that dominate commercial space. You will develop a lightweight IDS using Python and the Scapy library to sniff, analyze, and detect suspicious activity in live network traffic. This project focuses on network packet monitoring and suspicious pattern detection using Python. You will use Scapy to process traffic, define detection rules, and trigger alerts when potentially harmful behavior is observed. The project is designed to be completed in approximately 4–6 hours.
