- [Instructor] The last thing that will help us to tie all the components together is a grain of noise. This is not a real phrase but I love to use it because it reminds me that the difference between grain and noise is that grain is usually a film term and noise is part of the video world. But in any event you always want to match the noise to make the comp look better, especially if you're going to mix between synthetic 3D objects and live footage. Now in this case, I'm not going to try to precisely match the noise but rather add an additional layer of soft grain above everything and this will hopefully make it look more cohesive. Now I should also mention that due to the compression of the screen capture software and the encoding of this video, you may not see a huge difference on screen.
