What is shape data?
- [Instructor] A Visio diagram can be far more than just a pretty picture because shapes can contain data. In order to take advantage of Visio's data features, the first thing you need to know about is the Shape Data Window. If you don't see the Shape Data Window when you launch Visio, there are two ways to open it. Right-click any shape, choose Data and Shape Data, and the window will appear floating over the drawing window. By the way, you can close the window either by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner or choosing right-click, Data and Shape Data a second time. If you have Visio Plan 2 or Visio Professional, there's another alternative, and that's to use the Data tab and add a checkmark in front of Shape Data Window, or remove the checkmark to open and close the window, respectively. You can reposition the window by clicking and dragging to move it out of the way, or you can do what I'd like to do, because I use shape data so often, you can dock the window at any one of…
