- Have you ever ordered a pizza, and you can see in a very transparent way the status of your pizza order? kind of like this. This type of visual management is powerful. It's what many refer to as radical transparency. It's challenging for most project and product teams to be this transparent, and part of the reason for this is that the work is defined in ways that the stakeholders don't truly understand. For example, imagine the pizza order visual looked like this. With this image, we cannot really see the progress even though it's right in front of us because we don't understand the meaning for our interests. When is it going to be here? This is what happens to many project and product teams. We report the status in ways that are not easily interpreted by others, which in turn can create a micromanagement response.
