Removing objects from a scene
The ability to remove foreground objects in a scene is useful in a number of compositing situations. In the still image world, tools like Canva have been a must-have for YouTube thumbnail creation, allowing you to do this easily with one click. But with video, it's a totally different story. The tool needs to be able to remove a subject over multiple frames, as well as interpret the various lighting and pixel changes that can occur. Adobe After Effects had one of the first tools to allow for this with content-aware fill that was under the Adobe Sensei umbrella. It used AI to help select a subject using native mask tools and then help that subject disappear by filling in that defined area over multiple frames and with the assistance of Photoshop. Now there are other tools on the market using AI to assist with the selection process. One is available by Runway.
