- [Instructor] While we can create machine definitions directly in scripts and pass them to QMU, it's a lot more organized to have something else take care of managing those configurations for us. That's where tools like the virtual machine manager come in. So let's take a quick look at setting up our minimal lab using this tool. I'll open up virt manager or virtual machine manager as it's called here, and then I'll click the new button to create a new virtual machine. I need to install from somewhere, and in this case, that'll be local media, so with that selected, I'll move forward. Virtual machine manager manages its storage in pools and we have a default pool where our VM disc images will be stored. To install we need an ISO image. To find my ISO image, I'll click browse and then choose browse local. I'll move into my downloads directory and I'll find my desktop installer. Then I'll move forward.
