Understand what Hosting is

- [Instructor] We're going to introduce a new vocabulary item called hosting. Hosting is where a model element depends upon another element, which is called a host, for its very existence. Let's take a look at some examples. Floors and walls are hosted to levels. Doors and windows are hosted to walls. Let's examine this behavior. Let's go to Revit. So in Revit, I'm going to start with placing a wall, and let's look at this wall in section. I go to the View. Even though I did not tell this wall the level that it needs to host to, you can see that it has hosted to Level 1 because we have placed this wall in Level 1, which is the view that is hosted to the level. Now, watch what happens when I move Level 1. I've moved Level 1, the wall has moved along with it. Watch what happens when I manipulate the wall.
