Create a nameplate
- [Instructor] Here I am in the finished version of the newsletter, and I want to create the nameplate. As well as being used on the first page, this is also used in masthead on page two, it's used in the folios at the bottom of every page, and used in the return address on the last page. So I want to approach this as a graphic, and for that reason I'm going to create it in Illustrator, as opposed to InDesign, and then place it in InDesign. In Illustrator, I'll create a new document also at letter size. I'll chose my type tool, type in the name of the newsletter. The newsletter uses two typefaces, Minion as the serif type face, Myriad as the sans-serif, and the nameplate combines the two. I'll press Command + A to select all, and Command + T to bring up my character panel. I'm going to change the size to 72 points. I'll choose optical kerning for tighter letter spacing, and then tighten that further still by applying minus 10 units of tracking. The word Community will be in Minion…
