The golden spiral
- [Instructor] There are many ways to use the golden ratio in design. We're going to concentrate on two: the golden ratio spiral, which you've already seen, and a flexible golden ratio grid. Let's start with the golden ratio spiral. Please use the template provided in the exercise files. The golden ratio spiral helps you make quick and compelling crop choices. One way you can use the golden ratio spiral is for picture layer and for focus. In the example shown, we've selected one picture but with two different ways of cropping. The first picture is not using the golden ratio as a guide and the second is using the golden ratio as a guide. This is how we do it. Step one, lay the golden ratio spiral down onto any pic. Step two, lock the picture down and scale the golden ratio spiral across the part of the image you want people to focus on.
