Column by example

- [Instructor] Let's take creating columns with Power Query One Step further, let's create a new column using data from another column. This is also known as creating a column by example. So what I mean by that is, let's say I want another column for just the day of the date, like Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, et cetera. We can do that with Power Query, here's how. I've got the 0205 sales data file open, and I'm going to close this pane to give myself a little more room and then I will go to the data tab, click get data, and then Launch Power Query Editor. I'm going to make sure the order date column is selected and then I'm going to click the add column tab, column from examples and then from selection. And so what it's going to do, Power Query is going to create a sort of working column over here and it's going to base its values on the column I had selected. So here's our working column here, and when I double click in here, it will give me some suggestions of values based on…
