Drag and insert cells with the Shift key
- [Instructor] A great shortcut, but not so well known in Excel is the ability to move and insert in one single step. Let's imagine, on this worksheet called HR List in our chapter six file, I want the status column here to be to the left of the ID column. And the standard way to do this is to insert a new column to the left of column D, move this information over, then get rid of the empty column F. But we can do this in a single step by selecting the data, point to any edge, most likely the left edge here and hold down the shift key as we drag this left edge. And you'll see the sort of I beam separator there. Now, I can drag it anywhere I want over here. I'm going to put it between C and D and release the mouse button first and there it is.
