- [Instructor] When you work with dates and times in Excel, there are a couple of shortcuts you need to know. And a not so obvious but extremely useful shortcut is Control + ;. I just pressed it. At the time of this recording, it's December 5th of 2022. When you're typing in other dates, some regional settings will make what I'm about to do a little bit different. Within the United States, it's very common to put in month first, for example, 11/day 17. If it's the year, two digits work just fine. So we could be using that. If it's a date earlier in the year or within the month, we don't have to put in 03 for March or 02 for March 2nd. We can certainly do it this way. If you type any entries with slashes or dashes, Excel evaluates them as if they could be dates. So if I type 3-4-7, believe it or not, that's March 4th of 2007. So all those years in the early part of the century, you don't have to put in a zero there for…
