Feedback is the key to improving the experience. You'll never know how well you're doing if no one takes the time to give you an evaluation. Feedback is a process of providing information to someone about their performance or behavior. In this lesson, I'll discuss the importance of utilizing feedback to improve the learning experience. Feedback can be categorized into two types. Formative feedback is given during the learning process and helps learners improve their learning outcomes. It focuses on identifying areas where the learner needs to improve and provides suggestions. Some ways to provide formative feedback are online assessments such as quizzes, tests and assignments, discussion forums, and video feedback. Summative feedback is given at the end of a learning process and is used to evaluate learning. It focuses on assessing the learners’ performance and providing a grade or score.
