- [Instructor] Previously, we saw how to configure caption setup and place static metadata captions with images. In this movie, we'll see how to place live captions. I'll start by selecting my first placed image. And from the Object menu, I'll choose Captions, Generate Live Caption. And the live caption is created using the options I set up in my caption options in a previous movie. So the caption was placed below the image, on the same layer and it used my caption paragraph style and so on. Now, the difference between a live caption and a static caption is that a static caption is made up of regular InDesign text. But a live caption is a kind of text variable. If I select it and zoom in a bit, you can see the border around it. Like it's in its own frame. This indicates that it's all just one element, it's not individual text characters.
