- [Instructor] Your slide background plays a crucial role in setting the tone of your presentation. A well chosen background enhances readability and keeps your slides visually appealing. In this lesson, I'll show you how to change the slide backgrounds in PowerPoint, whether using built-in themes, solid colors, gradients, images, or patterns. Let's get started. First, let's see how to change the background style within a theme. Go to a slide where you want to change the background. Head up to the design tab in the ribbon. Click on variants, and click on background styles. Here you get several options for your background style based on the theme colors for your presentation. Hover over the options to get a preview. Notice how the color of the text adjusts based on the darkness or lightness of the background. That ensures that the text and content remains readable.
