Moving up and down the keyboard in 6ths

- It's important to be able to play up and down the keyboard freely. These exercises will help you do that. They use sixths, and you'll be reading from the bottom note, keeping you hand in the shape of that interval as you play. The right hand is first. (piano chords) And then the left hand. (piano chords) Lone Star Waltz moves up and down the keyboard in sixths. I want to point out something new to you, and that's at the top of the second page. In the left hand you'll see a dot above the notes F and G. This dot indicates the staccato touch, and you'll find it above notes or below notes in the music. It's different from the dot you see by a dotted half note or a dotted quarter note. The staccato touch means that you should plays these notes very short. Like this. Now look at the last measure on this page. Underneath the staff, you'll see the words D.C. al Fine. This is Italian, and it means to go back to the beginning and play to the fine sign.
