Creating elastic IPs
- [Instructor] The next thing that I want to show you is how to create an elastic IP address. An elastic IP address is just a public IP address that can be assigned to a virtual machine instance. So to get started, I'm going to go ahead and click on services, and then from there I'm going to click on the compute category and I'll click on EC2. Now, EC2 is the platform that you use to create virtual machines, and Amazon refers to these virtual machines as instances I find myself calling them virtual machine instances. At any rate, this is the console that you're eventually going to use to create virtual machines, and what I want to do is create an elastic IP or a public IP address that can be assigned to virtual machines. Now, you can create a public IP address at the time that you're creating a virtual machine. That's a very common practice.
