- [Instructor] Sometimes guests will reach out to you, but how do you know if they're actually good, or they'll actually be a good guest on your show? This takes some research and proper screening. First, I have to reiterate that your guests and their topics should fall in line with your podcast's mission statement. Don't just accept anyone who comes your way. I've made that mistake before, and it's a disservice to you, to the guest, and most importantly, to your listeners. If you are approached by a potential guest or their podcast booker, which is more common these days, you'll want to know what to look for in a quick screener. The first thing I like to look at is how generic is the pitch. If it doesn't mention your show by name, or it gets the topic of your podcast wrong, politely decline. That's what I do.
