What is SysML?

- [Instructor] The systems modeling language, or SysML for short, is a general-purpose modeling language and is intended to facilitate a model-based systems engineering, or MBSE approach. MBSE applies modeling to the entire systems engineering life cycle, And in this approach, the engineering data is expressed as models. This approach enables a single source of truth for system definition and supports multiple stakeholder viewpoints and views. The model-based data set can be queried and tested, making the systems engineering processes more efficient and error free. SysML v2 was published by OMG in 2024. There are many new capabilities and features in V2, and we will discuss some of them in this course. For now, I would like to point out two important differences between SysML v1 and v2. First, unlike SysML v1 that was developed with UML as its foundation, SysML v2 is built upon Kernel Modeling Language, also called a KerML, which is designed to build other modeling languages. SysML v2…
