Deputy Mayor Peter Harle, along with Councillor Fiona Macnaught and Councillor Peter Ristevski, were thrilled to welcome students and teachers from our sister city, Toda, Japan. The Liverpool-Toda Sister City relationship continues through cultural exchanges and lasting connections since 1993. This year, the Toda students gifted the City of Liverpool a beautiful traditional lacquer clock featuring the “Hatsune” design, a symbol of elegance and heritage from Japan’s Tokugawa era. In return, we gifted our visitors' personalised jars of Vegemite, a taste of Aussie greatness and a hand-crafted ceramic piece by Sydney artist Deborah Woodhouse, whose nature-inspired sculptures celebrate the beauty of Australian flora and fauna. -- #SisterCity #TodaJapan #LiverpoolCityCouncil #Culture #GlobalFriendship
