North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s Post

Congratulations to Cumbria Paramedic Simon Walton BSc (Hons) GCGI MCPara TMIET MInstLM, who recently received a prestigious Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (NHS Veteran Aware) merit coin in recognition of his fantastic work supporting veterans. Many of our staff are serving or former armed forces members, or have family members who are, and the coin is given to individuals or teams who have shown extraordinary commitment to removing disadvantage for the armed forces community. Simon spent over 22 years volunteering with the RAF cadets, and over 21 years with the Royal British Legion, where he’s chair of the Appleby and district branch. He’s also vice-chair of our staff Armed Forces Network, where he helps to support our veterans, cadets, and volunteers who work for us, as well take part in and represent us at events like June’s Armed Forces Day and May’s VE80 commemorations. Well done Simon!

Great to see this, well done Simon. Very well deserved for all the work that you do, including the remembrance parade in Appleby.
