🚀 Mission accomplished for MTG-S1! Telespazio has successfully completed the Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) operations for EUMETSAT’s MTG-S1 weather satellite, launched on July 1st from Cape Canaveral aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9. 📡 The LEOP activities began immediately after satellite separation and continued uninterrupted for 17 days, coordinated by our dedicated operations teams at the Fucino Space Centre in Italy. 🔁 As with MTG-I1 in 2022, Telespazio led this critical phase on behalf of EUMETSAT, involving around 130 professionals from EUMETSAT, European Space Agency - ESA, OHB SE , and Thales Alenia Space, working 24/7 from both our Mission Control Centre in Fucino and Thales Alenia Space’s Backup Control Centre in Cannes. 🛰️ On July 18, MTG-S1 successfully reached its final geostationary orbit at 36,000 km altitude. It will now undergo in-orbit testing before starting its mission: monitoring Earth’s atmosphere and providing crucial data for weather forecasting and climate analysis. 🎙️ “The successful completion of the orbit injection operations for the second Meteosat Third Generation satellite confirms Telespazio’s expertise and reliability in space mission operations. We are proud that EUMETSAT has once again entrusted us with the management of such critical activities in support of missions that deliver essential data for atmospheric science,” said Andrea Cardellicchio, Head of Operations at Telespazio. 👉 https://lnkd.in/d_wrgjPP #SpaceOperations #Meteosat #WeatherSatellite #FucinoSpaceCentre #WeAreTelespazio Leonardo Space | Thales Alenia Space | e-GEOS
