🚅 The first freight train has arrived at SEGRO plc Logistics Park, Northampton's new Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) for Maritime Transport Ltd. 🎉 This marks not only the operational launch of the SRFI, but also the first freight journey on the reinstated East West Rail section between Oxford and Bletchley - an important leap forward in the UK’s drive for sustainable, integrated freight solutions. As part of our full turnkey delivery, we constructed a 19,800m3 terminal slab handling up to 2,000 containers, formed a 1.2km acoustic screening bund. The SRFI is also equipped with a terminal building and one kilometre of rail siding, facilitating seamless multimodal freight operations Rob Cook, Managing Director of Civils & Infrastructure said: “Seeing the first freight train arrive is a real milestone for our team and the wider project. The SRFI has been a complex piece of infrastructure to deliver, and we’re proud to have played a part in bringing this key element of SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton to life. It’s a flagship example of how we help enable modern, low-carbon freight solutions through major infrastructure delivery.” 📰 Read more about it in the news story: https://bit.ly/44TvGha Fin O.
