AI whole new world

AI--you may be sick of hearing about it these days, but you can't deny it's a growing force in our daily lives. It's likely safe to say a full-on AI revolution in construction is still a ways out, its presence in the industry is gaining momentum by the day. So today, we look at how AI and other intelligent technology like robotics are impacting construction now and what to expect for the future. And no, this email was not written by ChatGPT, but we did find a construction dad joke it did.

AI: A construction worker's best friend?

The rise of AI brings up a lot of valid concerns. That being said, if deployed responsibly, it can have a tremendous and positive impact, particularly in the construction industry. We're strong believers that AI and machine learning can improve the daily lives of humans on the jobsite. Instead of taking humans out of the equation, these advanced technologies can let people do their real jobs more effectively.

Myths & misconceptions about AI in construction

There are plenty of misconceptions around AI and machine learning (ML). For some people, these technologies conjure up thoughts about self-aware robots who’ll take over the world. Then there’s the more common notion that AI and ML are here to replace humans and take their jobs. Both are far from the truth. We dispel common myths and misconceptions on our Digital Builder podcast.

Explore the truth

AI-informed decision making

BIM has given us the ability to create data-rich digital models, but until now, building things in the real world has been a relatively analog process. Scaled Robotics has developed a robot that can laser scan construction sites 10x faster than a person. Better yet, their software uses AI to analyze the data, compare it to the digital model, and show what parts of the project are out of tolerance. This innovative process enables site managers to understand what’s putting their project at risk each day and make better decisions.
