World Earth Day 2022

World Earth Day 2022

Do you want to make a difference?

Today marks World Earth Day, providing an opportunity to focus on how we can #investinourplanet. Accelerating solutions to combat the threat of climate change is a collective responsibility and we’re committed to playing our part.

At Milestone Infrastructure, we have a five-point environmental strategy focusing on the key areas where we want to make a difference through our people, our processes, our delivery, and innovation:

·      Delivering low carbon infrastructure

·      Ensuring biodiversity improvements in all our activities

·      Integrating environmental improvements into our design approach

·      Putting the environment at the heart of our culture

·      Designing for reuse and recycling

In 2019 the government set a target to achieve Net-Zero carbon by 2050. Milestone Infrastructure has set an achievable goal of being Net-Zero throughout our business by 2040.

We aim to move away from traditional fossil fuels entirely by the end of 2022, and across our supply chain by 2025. We can achieve this using electric vehicles and plant as well as the wholesale use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel.

Through working collaboratively with our clients, design teams and our supply chain we will increase the use of low carbon and recycled materials and reduce the amount of high carbon intensity materials such as virgin steel.

Milestone Infrastructure was recently shortlisted at the Construction News Awards in the Carbon Reduction Champion and Low Carbon Project of the Year categories. This was in recognition of the excellent steps we are taking in reaching our target of achieving net-zero carbon by 2040. Milestone Infrastructure’s shortlisting for the Low Carbon Project of the year award was in recognition of its role in the construction of the Micheldever Road Materials Recycling Facility.
